How to deal with a juniper

These spikey junipers belong to a friend. Hes unsure how to handle them, so I decided to watch Ryan neils archive videos to help him out.

He lives in the UK and he just trimmed them and cleaned it up. Not sure if thats right? Not for material like this its too juvenile and thin. I said leave it to all grow and don't touch it. HANDS OFF! Let it grow more surface area and accumulate loads of energy to grow.

What you guys think?

I would consider putting some bends in the trunk and go literati.
Cut off everything but the second branch on the right and jin the top.
