I have this, probably, Dissectum Garnet that had a large trunk stump removed recently (was infected with orange fungus). I used tools to carve away all infected wood, used fungicide and then sealed the cut. Its starting to roll over slowly but if possible I want it to roll over much quicker because its a high risk wound. Its extremely dense this year and looks the healthiest its ever been, maybe due to its first repot ever last year in early Spring (removed 95 % of roots) and great weather this year.
The wound diameter is roughly 6 cm, the trunk diameter 7cm.
I want to defoliate it to force new growth and then use loads of fertilizer to gain a lot of wood and thus heal over fast
Its not a bonsai, its in a large deep pot and the canopy is roughly a 90cm sphere but I am using bonsai techniques on it and its responding well.
I only gave it little fertilizer this year so far.
Or would it grow just as much or even more if I let it keep the leaves and just fertilize heavily? Or something in between?
Its in a morning sun spot, but I could take it to full sun

Defoliation will never improve growth and healing, but actually inhibit them as it will cost the tree lots of energy to produce a second flush of growth. 6 hours of morning and early afternoon sun is perfect. Fertilizer is fine but don't overdo it.

The way you increase the rate at which a wound heals is by letting growth run above the wound. You want foliage mass and branch/trunk elongation. These two things will increase vascular demand and will cause the trunk to thicken. Defoliation will (at least in the short term) actually reduce the rate of wound healing.
