Does anyone know where to find info on how to do this type of carving?

I have not seen this kind of carving before. It is someone appealing but rather artificial looking for me. I guess the starts and stops of the carving are a bit abrupt for my taste at this stage, but perhaps it is the beginning of a much longer process.

That's a scarification, similar to these..... https://images.app.goo.gl/qrJUZr5y6VV6hCqT7.
Not sure I like it......
Did something like that in a portulacaria last year. Results were not great ....In fact, a year after it has almost vanished. I guess you have to scarificate periodically...

I haven't seen any real old ficus with such scars. The bark seems to remain smooth in all large ficus I see near my location. So it seems rather artificial to me.

Adds an aged look without as much time to achieve
