I've always enjoyed reading the book Go Dog Go to my kiddos and the shape of P.D. Eastman's trees have always interested me. Anybody know of someone who has tried to grow a bonsai like this? Suggestions for species type? Maybe it's just me? :)Go Dog Go tree.jpg

This was my favorite book! The party at the end is the best!

Love that book when I read it as a child and all of the times I read it to my son. I've been working on this gold-thread cypress (yard-madori) for a few years. First pic is a vert that helped me pick out the pot size and the second was from last May, a few weeks after repotting it from the grow box. I didn't take any decent pictures late in the season when it was looking much better but I will say that it's coming along very well. May not be the perfect material for that acacia style but I'm having fun with it. Will try to post an updated shot this spring. Good luck!

Here's a current shot if it's helpful for this thread. Trimmed it up this weekend ahead of the spring growth. IMO, it's coming along. Maybe another year or so to get the dimensions more ideal.
