Just a dude, trees and his dog

Maybe your new greenhouse will turn around the Fightins post-all star game slump…

Pea gravel laid down , now I also have wood posts for share netting with concrete deck blocks and metal brackets . I also have beams for the greenhouse support along with rods and doors . May need to rebuild the frame.

That is gonna be awesome when it is finished. May have to get something similar, however my city thinks they can regulate what you put in your yard so I will likely put up a portable greenhouse for winter protection of my outdoor trees, the white pine, alberta spruce, and maple.

I had to get approval for the pea gravel to ensure it’s still pervious and the hoop house for impervious surface prior to construction since the plastic roll be applied after frame

Cold frame is done , the 2x4’s will then be used once I drill plywood onto it later this fall , now the fun can begin I’m starting to strategize getting some new wood plants form a local mill and my existing stuff / stones . I have cement filled deck supports for shade netting structure .. and I have 2 55 gallon rain water barrels I’ll be using for supplemental water. Not the most prescient hoop house but it will get the job done. Toying with the idea of building an outdoor tokonome eventually .. but focusing on setting up the bonsai benches for now , and shade netting.. the garage is old so fingers crossed I can do it soon but Turing that into a work shop. It’s just gravel I want to fill it with concrete which would be cheap . I also have a porch with a roof on one section I’ll be using with a small wood table for working on trees for now .

Minus removing alll the excess wood , and some landscaping , large planter , shade netting I need to figure out and extra security/ privacy. The backyard is all set up. There is room for additional benches and growth .. as my stuff builds I’ll needles support and cinder black or wood benches who h I enjoyed making over a could days. The wood is all local sourced red cedar , even the older plants , red cedar bit not as profound in grain

Recent pics of early fall before leaf drop. Stuff is on ground until migrating to greenhouse , or in pace for winter on hardier trees. I also hooked up a security motion detection camera. I’ll snap pics of the hoop house frame , I got in Tufflite IV it’s a rigid berry plastic it’s clear I’m just hoping it’s not too clear to allow too much sun in dormancy .. it’s good for 4 years, they had other ones that were 70% shade but only 1 year durability. Not sure if anyone else has experience with the clear plastic on hoop houses in wonder , I have a vent and I’ll leave the door open unless it dips below 28F , another thing I’ve noticed is that the food frames aren’t air tight so there still will be drafts coming in but I’m worried about too much long .. perhaps I’ll get a shade cloth too .

I also have a hoop house, 8x12, that i have had since the 90s and have only replaced the clear plastic once, it's due, mostly critter damage from Squirrels running on it and chewing on bottom trying to get in, but ended up spending the last two months of Summer painting my house then the weather got wet and cold so hopefully next year. This last cover is at least 10 years old and has lichen growing on it.
I do use a 55% shade screen that covers the south side and a bit of the north to keep the afternoon sun from cooking things but take it off in winter because it holds the snow, i try to use a small piece on the inside in Winter between the curved pipes and the plastic.

I have a vent and a door , along with. Fan im getting this week that’s set to turn on if above 40. I also have a thermometer sensor . This is by no means the only greenhouse I’ll ever own and it we all form used materials except some wood Mets and supports. So before someone bites my head off I used greenhouse plastic and with. Friend wrapped it around best we could. I have 80 more feet for next year I’m going to redo it and also hand up some support pvc pipe along the sides up the hoop. But this was a fun start. Definitely ups your game imo

Its functional, that's what counts. Nicely done.
Thanks , god I should not post updates driving 🤣. Anyway yeah not bad for “hammydown” material I got a solar panel 3 fan system on the way I’ll be able to stagger and I am using 3 Home Depot buckets filled with water to help freezing even though tonight it’s gonna be brutal at least it will be clear from frost and wind.

Added in greenhouse fans powers via solar panel … seemed to do the trick. Have a few plans for next years upgrades to the structure and ventilation. Happy new year!
Also got some nice plans for the bonsai garden landscaping wise and some more functional stuff. I’m going to be looking for carport frame for a shade net setup.. Might turn part of my back porch into more cold protection to start repotting early next year with some greenhouse panels . There is a section deck under a roof right next to my deck. and then the actual deck connected to it.
