I just wanted a place to post my random trees that don't deserve their own threads yet.


Picea pungens "Baby Blue"

Yesterday, I saw this on sale for 75% off, so I went for it. It was the last one of it's species left on the rack.

It says "Picea pungens Baby Blue", or "Baby Blue Colorado Spruce" on the label. It's small, maybe 16" tall and in a large pot (2 gallons?).

Plan is to repot in spring and to not do too much to it in 2026. I am aware that they aren't great for southern California, so keeping it alive and healthy will my top priority.

A couple buds are opening. Not sure if that's super bad. I don't expect any freezes/frosts, so hopefully it will be fine.

Does anyone else in SoCal have a CBS???

HD in my area didn't have any. They only had the standard ISP and DAS. I got this one at Lowes.

Don't have a Baby Blue but I do have a very blue looking Colorado Blue Spruce 'Glauca' which I bought at Home Depot before my vacation (Reward for getting thru finals and 25$ for this and a dwarf alberta spruce is hard to beat!). Im not sure what Im going to do with it yet but the foliage is very beautifully blue. The picture almost makes it look more green/doesn't do the blue justice!





I'll be back In California by tomorrow and going to have a more serious think about what to do with it then!

I also got the DAS/CBS combo, but I paid more like $12 because I got them at 75% off, plus I get a 10% veteran discount. I would never have considered getting them at full price.
