Posted this in fuchsia thread, so apologies if you're seeing twice! But aware that's a rather niche thread and may be missed (or just avoided 😂)

Just dug up my ground fuchsia and potted. Hoping I've left enough roots?? Hoping I did, as this one could be rather nice!

First photo is just dug, next ones are roots left. Hope I didn't get too carried away 😅

@Clorgan I love seeing your hardy fuchsia pics! Like @Carol 83 says, here in midwest USA we see only thin trunk annuals for sale. However, I have searched around and found some nurseries out of state that will ship hardy fuchsia. I plan to try to obtain one, thanks to your inspiration.
Would you mind sharing what nurseries?

I would be happy to share! I looked for 'Fuchsia magellanica' because that's what seems to be available in the US.

Keep in mind, though, that I haven't checked reviews for these nurseries, and I am not affiliated in any way with these sellers:

Portland Nurseries https://www.portlandnursery.com/perennials/fuchsia (scroll down to find magellanica)

White Flower Farm https://www.whiteflowerfarm.com/fuchsia-magellanica-grand-cape-horn

Burgess Nurseries https://www.eburgess.com they have "hardy pink fuchsia" and "hardy red fuchsia"

Gardenia (not sure if a nursery) https://www.gardenia.net/guide/reliable-hardy-fuchsias-for-your-garden

There are many Etsy and eBay sellers who offer "hardy fuchsia seeds" but I would rather deal with an established nursery, myself. Even though I am in Zone 5 and might need to overwinter in my basement plant room, I am a sucker for anything that flowers LOL. I plan to order a few idfferrent plants and see what happens.

P.S. Gardenia does not sell plants. They say they connect people searching for plants with nurseries that sell the plants. "At the bottom of each selection you will see a 'buy' button. Press and we will display nurseries that sell these plants." I didn't have much success at this site.

Thanks, I will check them out.

Looking at the websites, they are really not hardy in my zone. At least one of them says to bring inside for winter. I did bring a regular garden variety inside this winter and it bloomed the whole time. I will probably get a few more this spring. They are a bit hard to find here and go fast, so I'll have to be fast, but thanks!

Ah glad you found somewhere! Let us know how you get on 😁

Oh, you guys are so lucky to find these beauties!

Seems like every climate zone has something that people in other zones wish they had. It took me a long time to find some nice bouganvillea which of course are not hardy in my Zone 5. I was lucky enough to buy some from another BNut. Trading/buying/selling makes the world go around -- just wish UK could ship to USA!

On the other hand, here there are lots of cold-loving evergreens that don't do well in warmer climes.

We will have to swap notes and discoveries as this is the first fuchsia i will try to bonsai, so i have no idea how this will respond to training
Definitely, that'd be great - mine aren't very far along the training process either! Have found them to be pretty resilient so far though 👍🏻

Where did you dig it from?
