My neighbor has this tree in their front yard. It is just beautiful with small white blossoms and wonderful smell also. It produces a little plum the is more orange that anything else. The plum is about 1/2" or a little bigger and has an awesome taste. Can anyone ID this plump tree. I will either do a shoot cutting or an air layer when things harden off if I can't buy one somewhere. Love to create a bonsai with one of these.

The bloom is only 5/8" across.

It's only a wild stab, given not a lot of info so far.
Many flowering plums come from Prunus cerasifera. Fruit can be yellow, red or somewhere in between which could be seen as orange.

Keep coming up as Prunus spinosa, but Mirabelle per @Wires_Guy_wires is the closest to size and color as described.

Get out that air layer equipment! Please remember to chop that moist sphagnum. 😉

Cheers

I ate these as a kid in Switzerland when visiting family. There isn't a plum that gets close to how these taste. They're so good that the French got the US to agree to restrict US production in favor of the French around the 1980's.
The French stole them from the Turks though.. Typical.

Thanks to all for all the info. I think wires hit it on the head, and what a great story to go with it from way back when. And he is right about the taste too. The mother tree is very old but still produces a wonderful display of flowers and tons of fruit. I am going to work hard at getting some samples growing for bonsai.
