I’m even more curious now to see what you do with the stump. I have a situation also. I have a Hackberry Celtis Sinensis that seems to have died back to a stump. The Hackberry is about 15.5 cm just above the soil and the live portion remaining is about 28 cm tall. There are some buds, not many, and a good sign of the tree attempting a comeback. Your carving shows me that there is a potential opportunity.....for something to be made....from something not totally attractive at first glance. Mighty fine work you’ve done!
