I know.. I know. There are channels who get these numbers on a single video. Yet, todays statistics blew me away.. .

I recently took a video offline (well.. Made it hidden on youtube) as it cost me a dozen subscribers, got no new subscribers and in general did not get a lot of traction. So at the moment it cannot be found, but is still accessible through the direct link below.
Thing is.. I do not know why.
I will take it offline later this year, and re-edit the video.
I would be grateful if some of you could have a peek at it and tell me what would bother you, as I cannot tell what is wrong. I actually thought this would be a video that would do quite well.. (Youtube.. Hard to predict!)

After watching the video I could not give any possible explanation why this may have cost you subscribers.
I followed you channel for a while and have seen many of your videos. I cannot see a reason why this one is any different.
Tone and approach seem simular to the other ones.
Maybe the lack of safety goggles made it to dangerous to stay subscribed for some?

I understand why you are confused because I am too. The only thing that I could see “offending” viewers was maybe they thought it was “tree torture” type of silly thing, even though it was already dead? Maybe people thought you were too rough or drastic, but I agree it’s strange that it drove people away.

The video is the same high quality as all your others. How many subscribers do you have? In a large group of people it is impossible to predict how many will be offended by what content. I say leave it up.

True, but to loose a dozen of subscribers in a week time.. And to get "only" 2.5K or so views in a week, where for most videos I would reach that in a day or so had me confused.

Ah well, yeah, I have been accused of hacking away at trees, fair point.
I think I want to re-edit it first. Maybe reduce the length a little and repost this in a few months, maybe as a new-years release, when everybody is wondering what they can do to their trees.

I haven't gotten to see all of it yet, but bonsai implies a living tree, but then this one isn't. I think the tree torture mindset met with a bit of cognitive dissonance regarding the subject. Subtle thing, but powerful.
Is there a particular word in the Japanese or other east Asian tradition for the dead display trees like this? Seems like it should be a thing, and this would be a good place to introduce it to people. Film a new intro, and maybe a couple voiceovers to add to the video that explain your position, and I think you'll be ok moving forward.

There were two trees: a live one with dead wood that needed to be bent and a dead one being prepared for tanuki.
