I have a bunch of different bougainvillea cuttings I got this year along with a few older plants maybe 3-4 yrs old. The older larger ones im using more clip and grow but I wanted to try something different on this one. It has 5 main branches that I’ve let grow pretty long. I wired them when the shoots were maybe 8-12 inches, pruned the tips then let them grow out a couple more months and harden off. Today I checked for any wire bite and made sure things were good. I had planned on pruning way back to just a couple nodes past the hardened off growth. But then I thought, what if just keep wiring the new sections a few more times. I could end up with really long branches full of crazy twists and turns. I haven’t really seen any styled liked this, but I’m pretty new so maybe I just haven’t come across it or people don’t like it do they don’t do it. I dunno. But I think it may have some potential. It can be a bit tricky wiring these 1 bc of the thorns and 2 sometimes the shoots are pretty brittle and break easily. Let me know what y’all think. This is a Rijin Star White Bougainvillea. Thanks!
