Collected American Hornbeam No. 1

This is great. I have a collected hornbeam that I’ll be thread grafting next spring. Can both sides of the branch survive to become 2 new branches? I’ve never done a thread grafting before, so wondering if the leaves growing the wrong way will be a problem
