That is very true. I guess I was going strictly off of the roots as of now. I can’t wait for spring!! Just a few more months haha
 
Letting this beast run wild. It seems like it’s a weeping bald cypress? Is that such a thing? Even when I saw it before the chop it almost had a weeping style naturally and now it’s growing the same way. Very interesting

@Cajunrider would you let this guy just chill and recover from a massive repot / chop? I assume I should wait to carve till maybe next spring? Same with branch selection? I thought the more green I left the more roots / energy for a cold winter? Then in spring do a carve / initial selection? Or should I let if recover even longer than that?

Just remember anything you inflict now will require 3 weeks to respond then 3 months of growth to ensure survival. If you still have that window then go ahead. My window of heavy injury is closed at the end of August, which is later than most in North America. I think it is closed where you are.

Come spring you can do all of that with your tree.
