Artisans Cup selections

nice one crust! I see Eric and William Valavanis too from the Nuthouse. (I may have missed someone else).
Congrats guys

Congratulations to Bill, Crust and Eric and everyone else that was accepted. Great accomplishment! Wish I could go.

EDIT: Marc Arparg as well. He's a BNut member too. I may be missing someone else?

Yeah, saw your name on the list yesterday- congratulations! Any chance the accepted tree is one we might have seen here??
Yes it has been on here, I can only say it is an unconventional art piece and I am delighted it was accepted in the competition.

Congratulations to all who had trees accepted!

Wow, pretty exciting stuff. Congrats to the bnutters, Eric, and Bill, and esp. my buddy Crust!

My JBP was not selected. In fact, only one JBP was selected.

Here's a pic of my submission:

So, the JBP that got in must be really special!

To be fair, I submitted at the last moment, the tree is in it's "everyday" pot, and not a show pot. And, I had just decandled. So it's not very full. After I submitted, I saw that one of the major selection criteria is the marriage of the pot to the tree. So the everyday pot would count heavily against it.

I'm thinking that it looks too traditional.

Still, I will be interested to see that JBP that was accepted.

I am rather surprised at the total photo in general. Who's idea was it to submit a dirty pot?

Overall I counted 13 pines and I think three of them are JBP.

Bill,

My plan was to do exactly that. I am preparing the tree for the Nationals, and in preparation for that, I decandled a little earlier this year than in years past so that it would have longer needles.

I only submitted it for the Artisan's this year because I had heard that they were running short of entries. They must have had a lot of last minute entries.

Please bring your beautiful Japanese black pine to Rochester, NY, for the 5th U.S. National Bonsai Exhibition on September 10-11, 2016.

Your show container and larger flat table for the companion planting would be an improvemt.

Bill

There ya go. I think we may have the first entry accepted for the 5th US! :)
