Went out in the garden after working all day and been busy. I noticed my JBP appears to be pushing new candles?? Should I be worried? I repotted it this spring due to a bad needlecast issue and having it in too big of a grow box that stayed too wet. I did no rootwork, basically just slip potted into a double colander in Bonsai Jack inorganic mix. I’ve honestly done nothing other than fertilize this thing and just let it grow because I was worried about possibly losing it, but now thinking back, I don’t remember ever seeing a second flush…

These are candles setting on for next spring growth. Sometimes you will get pines to push two growths in a season, but this appears to be bud set for next spring.

Thanks John! I wasn’t sure as this is only my second year dealing with JBP and it was struggling the first.

The candles look a little weak, probably because it had a rough year last year. But they should come out fine in the spring and hopefully you will have a good next season. Dont forget to fertilize heavy from now until frost.
