Are my JBPs ready to have me cut back the candles this early?

If possible acquire the DVD produced by Boon on Decandling. He breaks it down into two separate approaches. One for trees in Training to accomplish certain aspects of development. The other on mature trees using decandling for refinement and maintenance purposes. By viewing the examples he demonstrates with it is easier to see and understand the health and condition one try to achieve and maintain before using these techniques. It is also very clear how patient and further along in the development process one should be before beginning to use these techniques on either stage presented.View attachment 591481View attachment 591482
That's awesome, thank you. I will check out the website for sure and see if I can get that DVD.

This thread has become a pretty good resource for "decandling" timing and technique, so I wanted to add another question:

It's June 6 in the Central Valley and some of my most vigorous, refinement-ready pine projects are onto their second push. When I "decandle" in mid-early July, my assumption is that I cut back to the stubs from the first push. Is that correct?

This seems obvious (yes) now that I've typed it out because that is how my writer brain works, but would also appreciate confirmation from our experience pine people.

Thanks!
