Anyone with picea orientalis?

Let's look at the environment of these trees. Spruce in general grow on the North side of the mountians, in the high elevation valleys seem to attract their interest. In many ways they are likr Mugo Pines; they like constant watering but they do not like to be kept wet. The growing medium must drain like an incontenant old man hearing running water. They also do not particularly enjoy full sun.

All that requires a long-winded replay....
Outstanding reply. You got my gears turning! The ISO at the top of the atmosphere is one thing. I suspect that clouds vs sunny days does have a role to play in how much of that ISO actually hits the plant. However, I think you're right. Temp, humidity, and wind are bigger factors. Just compare where I live (coastal mountains) to a high desert not too far from here where the vegetation is totally different... Those 3 factors are the difference.

I appreciate the great reply and trying to use data and science to address a question! I learned from this!
