Anybody growing pepper trees?

Is it quick to develop witht he japanese pepper? Like two forks or more per year?

Yes, you can get two per year (in your warmer climate, maybe three), but that will only be for final canopy ramification. I'm still at the point of trying to get the branches to be thicker - it has been less than once per year, in effect.

I had it in a smaller pot for a couple of seasons and the growth rate really slowed down - good to know for when it gets to the maintenance stage, but it isn't there yet (hence, to a bigger pot!).

Here you go - West Indian Satin wood - Xantho........... flavum
Ground grown for a year or 2.
Did the scarred cambium bit by itself.

A cutting and very easy to grow. Now training. Likes full sun.

I picked this up along with a serissa, interesting little tree. Tiny leaves, seems slower growing. Looking forward to spring, maybe a pot and pruning in store for it.
I'd like to see any examples you might have. Specifically Chinese pepper tree zanthoxylum piperitum

I'm new to bonsai and have just joined the community here. Live in Devon, UK. I have 3 saplings of Schinus molle Californian pepper. Pretty little trees, similar to our weeping willows. Aromatic leaves, long and pendulous. Am planning to begin training in the spring here, around Feb/March. Will post ics if a. anyone is interested, and b. I can figure out how to do it. Not too good with this techie stuff, getting old! Also 4 saplings of Delonix regia Flamboyance. Beautiful shape feather and lacy leaves. Fell in love with them when I lived in Botswana many yrs ago. Real tropicals.

Do a google search for Schinus terebinthifolius and Schinus molle bonsai. You'll find quite a few. Looks like promising material despite the compound leaves.
