i see folks make such grandiose statements with such certainty and it’s like, ok but we have ~gestures at literally the entire country~ this to show what happens without unions but ok

for the record, this line of thought is actually against my best interest as a comfortable petit bourgeoise but man it’s still wild to read this sentiment

guess i still see myself as labor at heart even if i’m not. i was also a part of a successful unionization effort and was shop steward in a past life. bleeding hearts never heal, i suppose.

I've been in a union since I joined my current job 16 years ago. While I don't always agree with what the union tries to do, I have to believe that without it, there are a lot of benefits we would never have gotten and our employer would walk all over us whenever they wanted.

I work hard in my job. Sometimes I even work overtime when it's necessary for which I don't see one extra penny for because budgets can't account for it.

We have lost the ability to talk to each other constructively about politics. It's all about hatred of the other side. For too many, the other side is stupid, lazy, idiots, not worth the air they breathe and if you don't agree with me then I am going to beat it into you and if you still don't agree, you are better off dead.
