Foggy, damp days make for some of my favorite shooting conditions. A few from this AM...
Azalea, Korean Hornbeam, Hawthorn

Very nice set up you have Brian. That's a nice big back yard too! I could move to Alabama just for that. If I live there, I would do a huge koi pond and surround it with nice bonsai. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice pictures, Brian. The fog does seem to bring out the best in your bonsai. The tanuki is impressive.

As you already know I really like ALL of your trees; however, your pyracantha really appeals to me. I have been looking around for a nice one but have not found the right one yet--maybe this next year.

You guys have so much space over there. Why don't you just get small nursery grown materials, like all varieties of pyracantha, and put them in the ground for a few years. They grow so fast, in 5 years you would have a lot of trunks bigger than his tree. There's no maybe!
BTW, Go Alabama!

On second thought, I am going to go out and get some small pyracantha and start some myself today.

Those are some damn nice trees, and lovely presentation on the benches. Not too crowded, and nicely thought out in the dynamics of how they work together for display.

VERY nice hawthorn! Which haw is it?

thanks for sharing. nice!

happy holidays, sam

Si: too rocky for a koi pond, though ive been tempted, and for a few years my daughter got up every Saturday morning ready to dig one...Mrs. VF is glad to not have one!
...and ROLL TIDE!

Ron, Pyracantha is everywhere around here...and many people would be ony too happy to let you haul one away!

Jim, thanks, it's a little hip hawthorn I collected in '00.

Thanks for sharing. Beautiful trees.

Top notch trees Brian. I really hope to have a backyard and collection as nice as yours one day.

Hi Brian, fantastic collection. Thanks very much for sharing.

How is that spruce you got from Brent? I ended up passing on the oriental spruce that he had, but picked up a couple of very nice collected Englemanns from Nature's Way this past year.

....00.

Reminds me of when I was in highschool, a long time ago. My dad kept saying one day son. Then one day, when I could wait no longer, I went out in the backyard and dug a pond. My brothers then jumped in and helped me finished it. It was the ugliest pond one can imagine. It is still there in the old house. My dad never yelled at me! At least I don't remember any. My point is. Just do it. My wife didn't want a pond either, but after years of begging, I just do it. Koi and bonsai really go well together. In my area, the added humidity really helps too.
