Yeah move it back and cover with would sealant/superglue!
I used wood glue and then electrical tape in a hurry. Surprised it lived and starting to heal. Not real pretty tho...

If you bend when the tree is in need of water the wood bends easier with less cracking and breaking.

I quickly wired the broken spot back together with 1mm aluminum wire and covered with cut paste on a juniper....
The branch is only about 3/16" thick, and it looks OK so far.... I think it healed.

Think of a branch as a hose.
When the hose is empty it's easier to bend than when full of water.
