I’ve stared at material for YEARS before beginning to style it
.
No way to get from the original picture to here because this is just AI slop. This is what chatGPT gave me; I’m not sure I see quite how to get there from here, but I bet there is a hunk of trunk under there.View attachment 625513
Semi-cascade Chinese style bonsai with foliage clouds and a cascading section using this uploaded photo juniper as source material. Rearrange the potting angle and cut branches and pretend much time has passed to regrow foliage.
Good thing they aren't suggesting we use AI as our primary care physicians!... Oh, wait...This is what chatGPT gave me
Absolutely. This was exactly my thought. I own one of the survivors of that fire. I've studied the tree for two years before I began my first repot. Then, I consulted with a bonsai professional I respect to see if his view of what I saw was what he saw. Please get several opinions. Then and only then, move forward. This is a "historical tree", considering it's origins. It deserves all your best efforts.Absolutely.t However it is advanced material. It would be great material to bring to a workshop with a pro who might help you lay out the primary structure.
I was thinking something like this: semi-cascade with some Nigiri(?) exposed roots on the right. Maybe in a crescent pot?The tree comes with nigiri on the side? Say no more, I’m soldMore realistically (pardon the half-butted virtual),I was thinking something like this: semi-cascade with some Nigiri(?) exposed roots on the right. Maybe in a crescent pot?
Ha, yes, although I am a sushi fan, I meant Neagari. The tree comes with nigiri on the side? Say no more, I’m sold![]()
Yup, its current caretaker brought it down after the fire in 2020, so I believe this is also a "survivor tree" with a legacy. It got a top down repot in Spring 2024. No hasty actions are in store, believe me. I'll get lots of opinions, and I appreciate all of those you folks have given me in this thread! This community is great.Absolutely.
