Premna make good bonsai.
$20 seems a good price for a trunk with great bends and character but it is bare root and not established in a pot yet so could possibly be $20 for nothing.

Does it say whether field grown or wild collected?
You may have different principles but I don't condone stealing plants from the wild. Purchasing them just encourages more people to dig trees where they should not.

It's on field grown. Ya they cut the root. Premna have strong adapt. Even only bare root it's gonna be alive Just get it on lava rock and do isolation from sun for 2 weeks.
