Backbreaking repot of my large Boxwood..

View attachment 615447
I have 3 to repot this spring that are in massive tubs, they are so awkward and definitely back breakers, 1 I can barely even lift.

Photo tax, boxwood I tossed in the club show last week.

A little late, but I played in my first padel Americano tournament on Saturday. It was an 80s themed event, so dressed appropriately (or at least tried to) 😎🎾
My GF and I have been playing for a few months and we’re loving it
(Definitely not my GF playing with me in the photo 😅)

Your outfit is so good in fact that I quietly chuckled to myself remembering the good ole' days and wearing socks up to my kneecaps. 😁😅
Perfect!👍

(Out of new photos, I'll pay twice next time)

Went quite brutal. Have limited space in my storage space.this was up for Bayou Bills roast. And I also cut out most of her baby for a second time. I left the cascading branch for consideration later. Then I broke it off. Weird thing is my pines even many ones in the gardennever really candled out this year?

Went brutal with my old kotabuki grafted pine . In Bills Bayous roast he called it pregnant.
Time will tell. But in the meantime it'll certainly help with my limited stowage space.
My pines this year didnt really candle out as usual. Even ones in the garden. My bristlecone one seems to respond well to slight pruning with back budding. Hopefully this will do the same.

The last three winters I stored my winter hardy trees behind my shop. It provides protection from the north winds during our very cold winter. First 2 years everything was fine but last winter prior to snow fall rabbits (I believe could be dear) ate all my hemlocks to nothing but nubs. Most weren't a great loss but one I thought had a lot of promise. They ate plenty of other stuff but again nothing of great loss. During a slight warm spell I got a temporary fence in place to make it through the winter.
So, I have been working on a proper fence for the trees to be protected from the animals. Chicken wire about 3 feet up and about a foot below grade. Hope it works.

You might have to go higher than three feet. Deer here in Oklahoma can easily leap over a five foot tall barbed wire fence. The buried chicken wire will deter those rabbits as well as ferrets, skunks, Etc.

Photo…seeds that arrived today…Will be starting some for bonsai, some for landscaping and some for fun.

Today I pulled an Old Gold juniper from my garden “nursery” bed to work on. It’s been in a pot set down into a raised bed for two summers. Evaluated its pros and cons before starting the clean up. There are some nice natural bends to the trunk and a double leader. Thinking to using one as a branch and one for the leader.

Took time to clip out the dead tips and small branches. Luckily we’ve had summer showers instead of drought this year.
There are loads of tiny growth.

Will work on roots and wiring tomorrow.

I can't be sure quite yet, but I may have successfully rooted my first tree cuttings. They've been under a tent for maybe a month now.
All three are invasive species so not really the ideal material to work with, but it's still progress. There are two Amur Honeysuckle, and one Rose of Sharon. I realize that both of these species root anytime anywhere, but I think I've finally found the right conditions to propagate trees in my little back yard... and I gotta say... it's exciting! lol

My backup camera kind of sucks, sorry. It's probly 20 years old now. 😁
