I've found this stuff that's easier to get in the States.Scored the last 4 larger 16kg (35lbs) bags available locally . Until next winter . Discovered this recently and posted here . Sold as environmentally friendly winter traction product for sidewalks . It’s 100 percent crushed pumice . Very difficult to source pumice in the north east . It’s even very dark grey listed as black pumice

I've not bought any because I'm still unsure exactly what it's made of. Some have said it's a form of zeolite, but I can't find that or even an SDS on their website.
Anyone mind chiming in as I'm not chemist or geologist? Is zeolite a safe potting medium? Wikipedia article is over my head, but seems like a pH adjustable high cation exchange rate, which should be great.
I have seen it in stores . No info on bag of what exactly it is . Looks like oil absorbent . Kitty litter . Bag states there is a small amount of salt ( forget the percentage ) that stopped me . There environmental angle . Is as much about how it is sourced as much as how altering to environment . When used but I wax looking at the regular . Not the pro which I will say I like the larger particle sizeI've found this stuff that's easier to get in the States.

On there site they talk about it changing colour and adhering to the ice . I have no proof but suspect this is the salt content . So I highly suspect it’s absorbent ( which is naturally mined and cheaper ) treated slightly with salt for its adhesion . Lots of people use oil absorbent for traction but it breaks down when you walk on it and tracks into the car and house . Unlike lava grip . There is no PH level listed . Which also makes the claim it don’t break down . For the money just get DE . But it sure would be nice to get larger particle sizeI have seen it in stores . No info on bag of what exactly it is . On their site it says nothing about any salts, and this distributor specifically lists it as zeolite, but their own site doesn't say squat about it's actual makeup. On there site they talk about it changing colour and adhering to the ice . Something Apple Blossom which I think is a Karume
Finally found the MSDS on this stuff, which does list it as reasonably pure zeolite, and about as safe to use as anything can get. Nothing on pH or the like, though.I've found this stuff that's easier to get in the States.

Not personally, but here it is commonly used in gravel-based substrates for e.g., flat roof plantings. It is as an add-on in one of the substrate mixtures I infrequently buyFinally found the MSDS on this stuff, which does list it as reasonably pure zeolite, and about as safe to use as anything can get. Has anyone tried zeolite as a substrate before, or do I have to find something to experiment on? It's apparently used as a soil conditioner, so I imagine it should be safe as a major substrate component.
I might order a bag and give it a try. We'll see.Not personally, but here it is commonly used in gravel-based substrates for e.g., flat roof plantings. It is as an add-on in one of the substrate mixtures I infrequently buy
