Yatsubusa elm from evergreen garden works. Some ideas to consider.

My Yat leaves do the same folding and closing like yours are in this picture. What is the horticultural reason? Is it heat stress?
You know. Early on I thought I was doing something wrong. But aside from one year where I’m almost certain I had some sort of pathogen, the trees new leaves just have this look. Though I will see, when the tree is at its healthiest, the leaves are slightly more true elm looking.

Long story short. Not sure why the leaves look the way they do

Here'e an excellent example of a shallow pot & what I suppose was good root work working together to build nebari.
Thanks @bwaynef . The nebari is still not as good as it could be, but I’ve def been diligent in trimming the correct roots at each repot. And I will say, compared to other varieties of elm I have, this little Yatsubusa is not the most prolific root grower.
