Have you checked the roots yet? These guys put a lot of energy into the roots early on. The top looks like it's doing nothing while the tap root gets really big.

No, I have not. Most of the repots I've done so far on young oak trees have died, so I'm terrified to repot it just yet.

It also has a buddy in the same pot, a volunteer coast live oak.
