WTB dwarf jade, P afra

I would like to get my sister an indoor bonsai (I know) as an engagement gift. She lives in an apartment with no balcony so P afra is probably my only option. my local nursery has some in bonsai pots but they are way over priced! I have some pots already, I just need the plant!

Big box stores and nursery's that focus on house plants often have them. Or would you prefer to Facebook or mail order?

Wigerts bonsai has some great ones. Last time I checked they had three options, one in a bonsai pot already and two in training pots (ones variegated)

Would prefer to buy locally as I know the branches are pretty delicate (making shopping risky), but I just haven't found any around here.

Jade will do A LOT better indoors full time than P. afra will.

Kurt has quite a few P. afra at The Flower Market.

I need to trim my P. afra back hard but am not interested in rooting cuttings and making new plants. If you come to the September AABS meeting (this month is the auction again) I will bring you free cuttings.

If you're okay with small ones, Lowes and Home Depot carry them.

Lowes sometimes has a $30 bucket of them that often come with 1"+ trunks but miserable nebari. (know from experience!)
You'll need to put it in a bonsai pot on your own if you really want it to a be a bonsai.

I really wouldn't rule out getting one delivered from bonsaiboy, Brussel's, or Wiegerts. My experience with jades is that the branches aren't really all *that* fragile and anything that breaks off can be easily regrown on the main tree and the part that fell off regrown as a cutting. More trees!

Ficus, Schefflera, and true Crassula Jades are also viable options for someone with just a window. Those can also be bought at Lowes for less than $20 in appropriate sizes.

Yeah! 40 + shipping and I got some pots as well. I was impressed with the packing too, only a few leaves fell off in transit.

I used to go by his nursery all the time when I lived in FL. Jason's a good dude.
