Why isn't Chinese elm more popular among professional bonsai artists?

This huge group is also CE. It was made by “land and water” penjing master Quingquan Zhao in the 90s.

I bought this Chinese Elm in 1996 but it took 10yrs for it to look like this, and yeah they grow crazy fast with a lot of twigs so keeping up with them takes a lot of your time to keep them looking good, I sold this one for that reason.
