I'd like to find more unusual cultivars of Satsuki azaleas like what is available in Japan. I'm sure there must be growers cultivating them in the US, but haven't been able to find any.

What exactly are you looking for? Finished bonsai, pre-bonsai, nursery, rooted cuttings?

Thanks all! Nice looking azaleas at all the links.

@Bob Hunter ‘s list is solid. Here’s some of the sources I’ve used. A number of duplicates

Nuccios is my go to for nursery stock to convert to bonsai. Ask for Jim or Tom likely should buy at least 6 to be cost effective

Riverbend, if they have material, it’s solid 2-4 yoa whips. We all BNutters caused a run on azaleas a couple years ago and it hasn’t let up!

Kusa-farm is younger material, but some interesting stuff. Shannon it’s easy to work with. I’ve got a couple dozen of his growing out.

Another source, of the many, I use is Ronnie Palmer at Azalea hills and gardens. Small stuff but good variety. Incidentally he just posted his yearly stock list!

Singing tree nursery has some nice one off nursery material, but don’t get any marked …. #2 s it’s obscure or not true to type. I browse their site as things pop up and out over time.

Lastly Brussels has big azaleas just don’t buy any small stuff it’s all obscure. Look for sales there

…and that’s all folks!
