Next up, what’s the most you’ve spent on a rock/statue/ceramic to use in a root-over-rock/statue/ceramic composition?

Oh, I already did… just gathering pertinent information to justify should the need arise 😬.
I was actually just imagining that as the justification with the poll results shown on screen, moments before the inevitable eye roll and rebuttal. 😂

As for myself, I’m still in the cheap tree camp, even though I have no spouse to answer to. But, I’m not above enabling other bonsai nuts…

Doubtful this isn’t his eBay account. This account has been around since 1999. You’re telling me someone spoofed the exact same name with the same tree with an account that old?
There's a sucker born every minute. Can't hate on someone trying to profit off it.

really?
Hm.
Yup. There's a thing called "Capitalism" that has lifted billions out of poverty over the past couple hundred years. As long as someone isn't being dishonest in their dealings, who the heck are YOU to control what their sell their property for?

And if you don't like it, as a wise man once said, don't hate the player, hate the game.

Ripping people off is not capitalism...

This does not sound like honest dealings though.

Exactly. Capitalism however does bring out the worst in people.

I wonder to what extend this really is true. One could also argue that a lot of people living in poverty today, are in this spot because of capitalism, and exactly the mentality that it is OK to take advantage of unknowing buyers / sellers.

don't hate the player, hate the game
The game is player by the players. The players can also take responsibility and not rip off people who do not know better.
But each to their own values.

My poor gerbil...spinning on its wheel...trying to process.

That Colorado is spectacular and the juniper is beautiful

Both collectors are achieving high level in nature.

But each to their own values.
It's not complicated. US vs USSR standard of living. China now vs China 1960. There are hundreds of examples.

If you unknowingly drop 18k on a tree, without being lied to, is it really the sellers fault?

Is it any worse than buying seedlings online and not getting a well rooted stick? In any way but scale? Except in this case, the buyer knows exactly what they're getting. You call it a rip off, but if a buyer and a seller agree on a price, again, who are you to say otherwise.

How is it any different than selling a ceramic pots worth about $100 for $5000?

Now the online sellers that lie about the ages of their saplings, or even throw some crazy age on a prebonsai, I'll grab a pitchfork right along side ya.

That'll be my last contribution to thread drift.

Back on Topic, I suspect I'll exceed my "most paid" number when being able to visit my first in person convention this April.

Such an amazing tree! Out of curiosity. Since the pallet is the stand. Have you considered having a decorative pallet made?
