IMHO not good for bonsai. Flowers and leaves to big. Good for something to play with...
Rather look for satsuki

Satsuki often have even larger leaves and flowers.

The reason why this is a bad plant is not the cultivar. It is because it is 4 cuttings in a pot greenhouse forced. These are barely viable plants as is

The biggest problem with the cultivar is probably that it is susceptible to frost. It is a tropical plant from China/Vietnam.

SO even if I did use it most likely the first winter I left it out it would be done son!?

True. I have quite a few of them as well. I mainly use them for their flowering now. To get a worthwhile bonsai from them, they have to be grown out and used as a big bonsai, and that wont be in my lifetime....:p

I have had success keeping them indoors but it needs to be well controlled heat, light, and humidity. Not many have luck with that. I am pretty certain a bigger problem would be separating them and having them survive - kept down South whole different game.

Well I gess I'll just plant them in a bigger pot for my wife and see how long I can keep it alive. ... then in ten years if it's still going .... I'll chop that mother fu@/er up and make somthing out of it....

That's if my wife's ok with it :D

It is a nice plant either way. Just a difficult variety up North - here I call them a "Hothouse Variety". Big stores often offer several different types up here in "forced" full bloom during the Winter months. There are many that will take Winters up here just fine and a local Nurseries often carry them reasonably priced.

Quickie:
Most growers now slap a "grower's label" on the side of the pot; name and address, etc.
Look it up. If it is more than two zones different from yours enjoy it as a temporary plant
but don't put much hope in keeping it indoors or out without a greenhouse and much effort.
