for now this is the best angle to view this tree(for me that is) but the movement of the deadwood is a problem . what can I do to fix this or choose another angle or remove one of the trunk?

Great tree with a greater quandary.

I like your scissor front....
Cuz it shows the DW and live vein both hitting the soil.

But I love the look of the shari in pic 132358.

I think if you can begin to enjoy the shari more than the jins....
It may be easier to reduce the jins...
But it is a difficult decision well worth waiting to decipher.

The first thumbnail could be a wicked front too!
Mega angle change!
But the view of the jins movement there is fantastic!

Let the jins and shari determine your best front...
And style the foliage independently.

Very wicked that lower trunk!

I like the 2nd and the 4th pics, however the 4th hides cascading jin it shows interesting trunk movement and good branch placement to base a design on.

Thanks sorce,
I had a hardtime still on this one. I will wait another growing season and try to sketch a few possible angle in advance before doing anything. Even the back pic no. 132343 looks good to me . A 'luxurious problem'.

Cheers,
Toto

I do feel the same. And yet almost all angle looks good with some awkward movement on somepart.
Thanks pete.

I like _132505. Did you remove the vertical Jin? Just wondering because you can't see it from that angle. Personally, and please design this tree to your vision, not mine, I do not like the jin that is sticking straight up. I think it detracts from the tree's natural movement. Everything in the tree is going off of the side of the pot with it's movement, and that Jin is a very stark contrast to that. Now, if you were to bring some foliage behind or around it to hide some of those straight portions and the harsh angle of that turn, I think the first pic with the scissors, but a 15 degree counter-clockwise spin would be best. I am guessing you are already trying to grow the tree out a bit around it, based on the way you've let that side grow out a bit.

I just realized that when you try to talk about left, right, back, front and it's a tree that you are debating the front of, it becomes very difficult to quantify the directionality you are proposing. LOL. Best of luck, that bottom jin is wonderful and the tree itself is very stunning.

Appreciate your thoughts beebsbonsai.
The jin is still there...that canopy is higher actually.
I too was looking at that angle before(15° C.clockwise) but the back 2nd 'trunk' will be hidden. Perhaps i should make one them abit higher/lower from one another to bring up more dimension/option in angle view point. Or will it create more problem where to choose.
Cheers,
Toto

Oh yeah!

I thought the very same!

But for the final final...You gotta ignore the foliage for now IMO .
And that is a near impossible angle.

One solution.
Round pot!

Sorce

Round pot. Of course...why i never think of this...i can imagine it now. Thanks sorce.
A shallow round pot roughly half the height of the exixting trainning pot? What is your suggestion?

Cheers,
Toto

Picture seven (2505) for sure. The jin may be a little long, but I totally see that as the front.

I can see that too...hmm...now I'm getting confuse where to start. will ignore the foliage for now like Sorce mention earlier and find a nice round pot. Hopefully the next next next growing season if the tree back to full health and push a lot of growth with backbud, a smaller ramification might help to see this tree through along with its jin and shari(if possible).
pm-Sorce : round pot on a nice automated turntable for a show to do justice (joking). :)

Picture 4. But there are several fronts.

Do u mean this one? a possible one too. I've check on this part too and thinking to remove bottom 2 jin(or redesign from poking the eye) that sticking direct to the viewer if this is the choice.
But then again the idea of cascade straight up front like from this angle is it "allowable" or "doable(if enough criteria)"?
generally I got no clue. :)

Cheers,
Toto

Ahhh. Thats why you cant see the tall jin. I wouldnt remove or even touch those two low jins. They really add a lot of dynamic character. I think if you use the front from the pic i specified in my first reaponse and get rid of a branch/clean up a pad to show a bit of that jin it would be a nice option. But again. Its up to you. Ask 100 ppl and all will have a different answer. Use your intuition and gut. Its gotten you to that stage of the trees design

Thanks for the advice BeebsBonsai. "Use your intuition and gut" I will. :) , but fairly I had a bad judgment most of the time and would like to hear and see what others can see as most of the time I always miss look what that tree can offer in a sense.

cheers,
Toto

This is what I think when I see your tree...

new-angle.jpg

I would increase the planting angle to get rid of the horizontal trunk line down towards the nebari. This also increases the energy of the design.

Right now you have a ball of foliage that would need to be pulled way in. I started the process in this virt, but I would go even further.
