What have people done to dwarf Alberta spruce ”mini Christmas trees.”

I’d like to see as well. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one done nicely. All the ones I’ve seen haven’t been aesthetically pleasing to the eye, to put it gently. Earlier today however, I saw one on New England Bonsai’s website that they are asking $499 for. That is not a typo.

This thread has the most info on dwarf Alberta spruce. I have seen some good ones. They are best used to make a forest.
Also use search function and find info on things that interest you.

Follow the contest! A bunch got dwarf Albertas.

Or better yet, grab one and join it!

I was about to say the same thing! Thanks :)

They're so plentiful in Walmart type nursery, it's really about specimen selection. But I turn them sideways, wrap in strip of cloth to protect bark, then heavy guage wire to make s curve for a full year. Even then still use some guy wiring. Maybe not conventional, but I like the result. Very vigorous tree, but if you scuff bark after first bloom, sap runs and you loose branches or have serious scars. Leave more foliage than youd think too, they're incredibly slow to backbud when sparse.
