Man...scale loves my trident. Early in the year i dealt with some huge scale on it, and this time barely even noticed these with the naked eye, happened to notice 3 blotchy leaves pop up on the tree. Feeding the tree Merit granules (imidacloprid), hopefully it solves the issue.
Big one, vs small ones

Thats cool, we dont see much air layered Tridents. If its successful, pls do a thread on it, maybe others can learn from it.

This Oak I picked up recently, has developed Oak canker, virtually untreatable. Ive thrown it out
I will if it works out for sure.

I vote to end this thread .. people pos there more than their own project threads anymore . This site is dead mostly due to this thread
I think there is room for both... I post photos on this thread occasionally if I am doing work that is unusual or different... but isn't really earth-shattering. No one cares that I repot 100 princess persimmon seedlings... but it is fun to share a photo.

Didn’t mean to be so hard not like the thread .. but I know I keep posting detailed info on my threads just miss more of the deep dives into discussion
You have many very nice trees and I watch a lot of your threads. I enjoy your work very much and think you have a great future in bonsai.
Some of this forum is business and some is fun.
Let us have our fun.

I don't think my thread ruined the site, it's always slower this time of year when folk are actually working on trees vs. typing about them. I get your point. King Nut can decide but it wouldn't hurt my feelings.

I don't like doing progress threads anymore because people just tell me they don't like my trees without actually giving feedback or they go off topic. The vibe in this thread is much more positive.

Repotted some tropicals today, and pinched the larch. I like all the threads, and forum posts, please share the knowledge/data/info anyway possible. :) I only have two progression threads and I always post to them first.

I got this one from @19Mateo83 last fall.

Like I said I didn’t mean to be so harsh and nothing wrong w this thread I just mean this is more causal , I miss more of the threads of peoples work and whether it is easier or not if they feel that they don’t get the input they deserve from whomever their work deserves to be shared.

You deserve to share your work I understand your opinion, however I would oblige you to post your work as well to document your progress at the very least and as far as negative feedback, keep posting.

Was about to say the same... I have progression threads that have zero responses or only some "negative" feedback. We perceive it negative cause it's different... but I use it as a food for thoughts... you might embrace it or might continue to try to prove them wrong ;)

picture tax... my podocarpus that has progression thread never answered by anybody

Non & negative responses are people either, learning without experience to add info, curious, or checking in without anything to add but a good job, or what, when, why questions. I think progression threads are tricky because some people don't respond to questions or acknowledge your question/response and some people even get upset when you respond. It's happened to me and as an avid searcher I've seen it multiple times.

Spent the whole weekend talking about trees with other tree people. I got a lot of feedback and opinions on the three trees I brought to the workshop today. Wired so much yesterday and today that my neck and shoulder hurt. I have some fine wiring to finish up this week.

I had a great time, I got to see many of my friends. Wish I had more time to talk to Jennifer Price. The only thing I ever wanted as a kid was for there to be more women artists in bonsai.

I love the long term progression threads, they give more perspective, and show goals being met than random photos. As much as I love this thread, I feel like everyone stopped progression threads other than a handful of folks, and all i see is those random I did this today photos. So I guess I agree with @Shogun610

Speaking of random photos, here's my photo tax. I unwired some of this year's elms and hornbeams that I wired 2-3 weeks ago before they hardened off. Holding form well. (Bottom couple branches are sacrificial so I didnt wire them) they are all starting to push a third round of ramification already, gotta love a long spring.20250614_205718.jpg

I don't think this threat stops people from doing the progression threads for their individual trees.
I for one don't have many trees deserving their own progression treads, but I do have a couple that I started and update.
As concerning my contributions here, I am usually posting one of a kind activities and sometimes not directly bonsai related, but I think is funny or deserved to be shared...
I don't understand why this thread needs to be shut down. I don't think it is going to make much difference for participants' contributions to the forum in general.
