I got it from Bonsai Outlet - dragged it to bonsai open day at Green Witch to get advice on a plan for it going forward, learned a lot on how to deal with it vs. a regular JBP.

I went last Saturday morning. How do you pronounce the instructors name? Kazie? I'm embarrassed to ask him a fifth time after I called him Fonzie. :)

Kate's chicken walked in and said hello while I was working.

Following the advice to repot Princess Persimmons in August and knowing that we will get a break from high temperatures starting tonight for the next week, AND lots of rain for the next few days....These were given to me as seedlings (root cuttings?) in 3 inch pots last September but by March needed a repot. I up-potted them then without working the roots. They've grown rapidly since then in pond baskets with pumice/coco coir.
Today, I worked the roots out to as flat a plane as possible and potted them into shallow 8" terra cotta pots. New mix is pumice: coco coir: akadama about 1:1:1.

In addition, one of the pond baskets had 5 sprouts about 10" tall coming up out of the roots. I salvaged 4 of those and potted them in the same mix in 3" pots.

Also, repotted a Japanese Snowbell (Styrax japonica ) that a friend gave me in May. It too was so pot bound that immediate action was needed!

I am ashamed to say I don't know for certain - I've heard Gazi and Razi and can't tell if one is a proper name and the other is a nickname or what. I just bring in a wee tree and look hopeless and he very kindly offers advice. >_>;; I've never met the chicken, though! It's usually Mila or the orange kitty whose name I can't recall.

For the tax-man, a wee friend I found on my elm:

LOL at looking hopeless, I look clueless as a default. Razi! That's what he said, nice, thanks. Is Mila the black cat? She sat in my lap for about 10 minutes insisting on attention/petting & I obliged. :)

Long story short. I repaired a broken branch today.

I haven't done too much in the last couple of weeks. I have been house hunting to finally get a place of my own and not feel bad about planting things in the ground.

I gave my plants a good watering today, although I do need to give them some fertilizer. Pictured is my bench and a seedling tray with a whole Lotta seedlings I'll be working on next year. Zelkova and Katsura (common name) to name a couple.20240808_133510.jpg20240808_133532.jpg

Gotta zoom off to work now and catch up what's been happening on Bnut lately while "working"
