Went for the seeds, and got seedlings

Yesterday i went to collect some JM seeds, and to my surprise i found several seedlings under 2 of the 3 trees in that spot. 2 seedlings under one tree are very lengthy, and the 1st leaves are very round. The other seedlings under the 2nd tree are shorter, and the 1st leaves are much longer. The parent trees look identical so its interesting how the seedling look different. The parent trees do show some color in the fall, and im hoping the seedlings are close to the parents color.

The seedlings were growing in wood chips and decomposed leaves. The wood chips are very loose so i was easily able to get the entire root on all of the seedlings. I lightly dusted the roots with rooting hormone and placed them in a seed tray. Today it will be pretty warm (for the time of year) so im leaving them out, but i will bring them inside at night. Im even considering putting LED grow lights up to increase their growth rate.

I have no clue. Theyre green most of the year, with a slight red color in the fall. If i were to guess id say just standard green.

So I went back and found 3 more seedlings, and 1 with just the tap root. At this point in pretty positive that the ones with the round 1st leaves are not JM. I think I know what they are, but I don't know their name. My mom has a mature one growing in her back yard. Ill take a pic tomorrow when I start Rototilling her back yard.

2 weeks after collection and they're taking off! With the LED lights being on for nearly 24 hours at a time, it doesn't really surprise me lol

Finally after 3 years I apparently collected some good seeds. My previous attempts must have been with seeds that were collected too soon. These seeds were collected in November after the leafs had fallen off. 2 of the collected seedlings are working on their 4th set of leafs and the germinated seeds are starting on their 1st true leafs. Not bad for one week after pushing through the surface?

The parent trees both have a redish-burgundy color during early spring. Their foliage turns greed with hints of the burgundy mixed in, with smooth gray colored bark. Nothing spectacular, kind of a combination rather than a bi-color. Ill try getting pics of the mother trees before the color fades.
