Welcome visitors to the garden

Finally had a chance to mow my in-laws yard between the rains in the wettest desert I ever saw. I barely saw this tiny toad before it got mowed down. It almost looks like it's smiling from the front. It's no bigger than a pencil eraser.

He looks very appreciative not to have been mowed!

Mostly, we get the odd cat, raccoon, squirrel, and bird, but occasionally we have fox visitors. Though I haven't seen one in a few months. A couple of years ago, we had one that was comfortable enough to take afternoon naps in my backyard and wait while I went to get my camera and telephoto lens. The ones we have now are pretty hard to spot; mostly, they show up on the nature camera.

It's baby raccoon season now, but they only come out late so it's hard to get decent photos.
