A stabilimentum (plural: stabilimenta), also known as a web decoration, is a conspicuous silk structure included in the webs of some species of orb-web spider. Its function is a subject of debate.

TBH she was not really in the garden but more garden adjacent.

I moved her to the bog out back. Hopefully she was done laying her eggs or finds a better spot and I don’t find her heading towards the road again.

Shared these pics with our group chat (@yashu and @RJG2 ) and was told I should post them on this thread. I'm happy they did because I didn't even know this thread existed and I absolutely love seeing the wildlife sharing our appreciation of the trees we keep.

Both pictures are taken with the larches we collected in the bog this spring. The gold finch is enjoying a leftover cone and the I stuck half an orange on the point of some deadwood, and this male oriole found it quickly.
