OK so in a hope to avoid a war, this is not about whether or not a person believes in the use of humic or fulvic, but is aimed to get advice from people who do use it to clarify how to use it correctly.

I see people discussing using ' humic/fulvic' plus kelp, fish emulsion etc

My question is that I have bought separate humic and fulvic to use and I am not sure if I should mix them (if so at what ratio) or use them separately and alternate.

I have a decent selection of trees mostly all starter material deciduous but I do have a few evergreens and quite a lot of jbp seedlings (which take most of my ferts and are what I really bought this for)

Also do I continue to use my others ferts at the same strength after use of humic or fulvic?

any advice would be greatly appreciated

I just recently watched a Bjorn video where he describes his fertilizing method as mixing GS plantfoods fish, & kelp with their humic acid. I can’t find the video to share the link, but he describes it as adding a little bit of the Humic mixture to the fish & kelp. He doesn’t mention any magical ratio like 5 to 2 or anything like that. In the video it looks like he’s pouring 1 gallon of fish and kelp and 1 quart of the Humic into the reservoir for his injection system. He then waters the plants roots and foliage every 10 days. It is safe to continue a normal fertilizing regimen with cakes or teabags or whatever you use. One of the benefits of the humic is increased nutrient uptake so you could maybe back off a bit and still see the same results.

This one

I’ve been using GS plantfoods root ruckus every other week with Alaskan fish fertilizer in between and have seen amazing results. When I saw this video, I decided I will switch to this regimen since It would knock me down to three times a month instead of once per week and I can get the fish and kelp at the same time with the Humic. I’m sold. The fish fertilizer is so thick and stinky. I’m hoping this will make feeding a little simpler and more pleasant. Although I have started to like the smell of the fish fertilizer after it’s been sprayed all the trees.

I have read 5:2 but I understood that to mean humic/fulvic : kelp or fish emulsion

I am wondering if there is a ratio between humic:fulvic or are they interchangeable

I have ordered both humic and fulvic

@cmeg1 our resident supplementation guru could be able to answer that question. He recommends the NPK RAW brand.

I use both, 5:2 fulvic with kelp and a hint of yucca for foliar. Humic/fulvic with kelp for a root drench.

Found this on a hydroponic website.

What is the difference between fulvic and humic acids?

Humic acids are larger molecules, and are great for conditioning the soil, whereas fulvic acids are smaller and more biologically active. Fulvic acids are best used as a foliar spray and are faster acting. Most of these products are a combination of humic and fulvic acids, to get the best of both worlds.

Another good read.

Thank you for the links I found that info particularly useful.

I didn't actually look for that brand but being in the UK its rare we get the same brands as USA,

I am now planning to start with a humic soil drench and next application in 14 days will be foliar fulvic with kelp, then in 14 days humic drench etc is this ok?

my JBP are in very free draining media and are fertilised every other day maybe I will use it more for these later

war avoided haha

Respect for owning your learning!

I also need to correct my previous post as I believe I have found RAW humic in UK

Is this it?
yes, the Full-up is their fulvic, which is better for foliar spray. They also have Kelp, their dosing is also correct for the 5:2 ratio, just use the recommended "lower" dosing per gallon and you are set.

Have seen most of these before @cmeg1 but seeing them again convinced me to hit buy for the RAW stuff

Brace yourself for incoming questions haha!

@cmeg1 got all my stuff now, including water distiller, my plan so far is to add humic tomorrow with kelp to basically everything, anything in organic is planned for fulvic in 14 days is this correct?

Jbp are in much more free draining soil so I'm thinking possibly fulvic foliar in 7 days?

is this too much kelp if I use it for both? I've read from you about kelp being hot?

Are there any plants that this is not safe or compatible with such as azaleas which i am careful with ferts
