I just received 10 Trident bare root seedlings and decided to try a clump
I arranged the best I could in regards to placing the largest to the interior of the group.
I wrapped the clump with 16ga copper and placed through a piece of countertop laminate with a hole just big enough to thread the group.
Placed in a grow box large enough for a couple years with about 2" of mix below the laminate and 1" over.
A light watering and it will be sheltered in my unheated attached garage that stay around 45F in the winter.TridentClump0121.JPG

Nice.

Did you think about a front of your clump? You are now in a position to position the individual branches that they have one inviting opener side for future viewing :)

You might find that this box is enough for this year, and requires a repot next. Let this stuff grooow!

to me, a clump would have more trunks in the back, and in the mid-front none so you can look into the clump, without a tree in the direct front of the clump.
