The two deadwood trunks out in front belong to collected Rocky Mountain junipers… both either grafted or in the process of grafting with shimpaku.

Thanks, I was not sure of the foliage and the deadwood seemed a bit different from junipers I am familiar with. Are you using approach grafts or scion grafts for the foliage change? Looks like a couple of exciting projects.
The winterization process trapping heat ( patio corner) near the building and blocking the wind on the pots looks pretty effective. Would I be correct in assuming they are display bench planks being repurposed temporarily? If so, another good reason for the traditional plank/cement block style display bench.

This is a tree I've had for 5 years. The deadwood is exceptional...it has 3 live veins, each of which is only an inch wide. I gave it its' first pruning and wiring in the summer of 2007. These were taken just before and after the initial work.

This is a tree I acquired 2 summers ago. I re-potted it last March at a Walter Pall workshop. The tree has grown very well for me, so I thought I would go ahead and begin to style it. I'm done with the wiring for now, and need to do a bit more work on the jin at the top. The first picture shows what I consider to be the best front. In the future, I'm considering reducing or even entirely removing the lowest branch on the right side (future jin). Comments welcome.

I've had these trees for the better part of 20 years. The grafts have been 100 % approach... mixed results, but ok with it as I've never had good luck with scion grafts. The pseudo cold frame material is repurposed bench material from my yard in Georgia. It was initially repurposed to be used as benches inside the moving truck used to move this collection to Michigan, and now gets used every winter as a wind break and to keep mulch from spilling all over the patio. The patio was a bonus for winter protection as the house and garage protect it on 3 sides, and the open side faces NW which is perfect as there won't be any sun scald.

It’s my man cave… It has a 50 inch fire stick flatscreen on the wall, Wi-Fi speakers, my elliptical trainer, and some free weights, and most of my really good trees… I don’t need a fridge for my beer for half of the year because it’s usually in the mid 30s in here
