Dudes and dudettes,

Since a couple weeks I've been moderating my coffee intake. It does wake me up, but beyond that it stopped doing the good stuff and only gives me jittery feelings and causes constant - dare I say - moist armpits. So I've switched to tea.
Lemon ginger, forest fruits, lemon green tea, if it can be a good iced tea, I'll drink it hot.

So my question goes out to all of you:
What's your favorite type/brand/blend of tea?

But let's not stop there.. What's the absolute worst tea you ever had?
For me it's anything with oranges.

Favorites: Strawberry Lemonade, Peach/Mango, Tropical Blend, Citrus Green Tea. I hate Earl Grey, it tastes like dirt. (No offense to the folks from the UK. )

Oooh! I LOVE tea!

My “morning tea” is 4 bags of the cheapest black tea I can buy.. normally 1.00 US for 250 tea bags.

But after that.. I like most of it.. even in the white tea range (There’s actually an AWESOME blueberry/white tea blend I love)... however I do enjoy a nice rooibos tea... and prefer oolong-age taste..

My favorite, however, is Genmaicha.

🤓

Worst Tea...

Full-Spectrum Kratom isolate and water..

The worst tasting THING.... I’ve EVER put in my mouth... tea or not!

Also Calea Zacatechichi tea... pretty darn aweful.

I accidentally ordered like a pound of Harney's East Frisian tea and luckily I like it.

I guess I'll let you know how it compares to others some time in 2024.

The best is dried young green tea leaves from central highland in Vietnam that I drop in between petals of lotus flower and collect them after two days. It’s a treat that I have gotten a dozen times in the past 50 years. The green tea leaves must be young enough so it’s not too bitter and don’t require fermentation. They must be cleaned and sun dried immediately after harvest so there is no mold.

I’ve had so many bad teas I can’t tell what the worst is. In general any tea that is not fermented properly and some mold developed instead will be the worst.

My mom was buying Celestial Seasonings herbal teas since they started as college kids trying to make a buck back in 1969 by collecting and selling wild herbs in the northern Colorado Rockies. The company has been in my family ever since.
Tension Tamer has been my favorite variety of theirs since I was a little kid. Ginseng and chamomile, along with some flavorful ingredients like licorice and cinnamon was the original recipe. About twenty years ago they swapped the ginseng for eleuthero. I don't like it as much as I recall liking the original, but it's still a staple in our rather densely stocked tea cupboard. About $2.50/box of 20 bags.
A spoonful of honey brings out the sweet and spicy notes together, otherwise it's overpowered by the conflicting floral flavors (rosehip vs chamomile) and really does kinda taste like sawdust if you drink it plain.
Their 'Zinger' line of flavors also make wonderful sun teas. Mix and match for an endless variety of flavors.

Otherwise, probably Bigelow's Constant Comment.

The traditional mulling spices (orange seed/peel, cinnamon, clove, etc.) make for comforting and energizing cup for those of us who shouldn't do something as strong as coffee after lunchtime.

Our tea cupboard is literally overflowing with different varieties and flavors. Like stuff calling out on our heads when we open the door level! We could go on for a while.

I have a half litre (~17 Oz) mug of brew next to me, out of one of these boxes. This is my nr 1 go-to tea.

I used to like you @Carol 83 😄
Twinings actually makes an Extra Bold Earl Grey, but I can't really tell the difference, since I brew mine half an hour
during which I reheat to steep a couple times to get it stronger. I like the flavor and aroma of bergamot oil.
After brewing a hot cup the bag goes in my mouth to extract any leftover concentrate.
It does not taste like DIRT! But my cat winces and backs up when I put an Earl Grey bag in from of him 🤣

I'm a Twinings of London fan.

I like using a tea ball but this is so much more convenient, and the individually sealed foil pouches
keep the freshness for extended periods compared to open bags of tea or paper pouches.

My mother used to make a spiced tea in Winter with oranges, orange juice cinnamon sticks, cloves and
IDK what else, but it's a childhood memory, so I ordered several boxes of

It's really good, a fantastic evening tea to kick back and whatever you do when you have a good cup,
but does have chamomile in it. You know you have a good brand of tea when you can brew it
for extended periods of time without being harsh.

This is another fav of mine, but out of season or discontinued one.
I don't smoke now, but the 1st cigarette I ever bought was Lemon Twist in the early 70's.
So when I saw this, I had to try it.

I've never tried this, but is a black tea.
There's so many teas to explore. I need to expand my palate and try some different things like chai for one.

I didn't care for the vanilla flavored chamomile from Twinings.
My favourite I actually bought at Quincy Mkt in Boston. Was an apple tea in a copper coloured can.
Haven't found it since, even when I returned to Boston years later.
