The Tree Thread

Field Maple - a very long "project"...
Another field maple - this was mine at the Heathrow show yesterday. It's been a long project too, collected as a seedling 22 years ago, and significantly restyled a couple of times.
Are you going to the Doncaster thing in a couple of weeks? see you there if so.

I was looking at that very tree yesterday morning, what did you stick the sandstone together with if you don't mind me asking (sorry about the pic of my tree was at work and didn't want to break the thread rules)

It's basically a hollow cylinder, with a couple of structural supports (thin aluminium cylinders) to act as scaffolding if I remember correctly. Stones were adhered to eachother and the supports using 2-part epoxy (araldite) and Milliput modelling clay. Roots go down through the 'pot' (filled with a course pumice-based mix), and into the larger pot at the base, which the rock structure is wired to.

As well as a pic of the 'rock pot', here's the tree in context in our club display. The top and RHS side trees in the shohin display are mine too.
