The Tree Thread

I'm about to pull all the leaves off my vine maple clump and do a full wiring

Here it is fully wired. I reduced the left side significantly and bent everything rightward to make the direction of movement more obvious.
Vine maples grow very straight, snappy, internodes so everything new needs to be wired every year.

This branch started to stick out so I am adding a wiggle in it

That looks like an incredible tool! Are those available online?

Damn...beautiful composition that.
Haha...I thought i'm the only one using these bending tools.
I went to town the other day on my new long and straight Toyo nishiki quince. I used them to put some slight movement before air layering

@doc spring _work just a friendly reminder to post a tree with every post. Good or bad. Post it.
Mnn you had to say it... Been sitting on my dawn redwoods that I wired up... When I took these photos I wasn't happy with them but I know I have time to let them grow, I'm hoping they grow some more as these where highly experimental... Please don't judge I'm making due here 🥺

Quick, poor photo but my arakawa is doing its autumnal thing. Didn’t grow so great this year so it’s not quite in the profile I wanted to get it to, but I know why that happened and will fix next year.

Lower right needs to be extended out more to give it more directionality. My shade cloth was too strong because I used the wrong one and didn’t figure it out til way too late in the season. Plus I didn’t actually wire it this year so it’s a bit schlumpy in general.

Wish I could let it break out next year, defoliate, and wire, but I’m not risking that with an arakawa. Esp next year as it needs repotting.

Gro-Low sumac (Rhus aromatica) in a Bunzan pot. Originally from simple nursery material.

Very cool. I feel like I’d be too reserved to use a pot that size for a tree with that width but clearly it’s the right choice. Love how your trees make me reconsider preconceived notions.

Trident that needs some mid-trunk grafts…. Took cuttings this year so hopefully can do that at some point. Very much a very nice tree I got too early in my journey and I screwed some stuff up. You can see a healing wound from a branch that was very necessary and it’s not the only one.

Potted these bargain basement Christmas trees a couple or three years ago and finally got the opportunity to style them. Before/after. 75% sure the first after is the front but we'll see how it develops.PXL_20251203_131007221.RAW-01.COVER~2.jpgPXL_20251209_123916088.RAW-01.COVER~3.jpgPXL_20251209_124906274.RAW-01.COVER~3.jpg

I cannot help by say that I really like what you had before styling, @Woocash. I think it only needed some 'undergrowth' added and maybe placement on a slab/stone to make a masterful composition. As they were, the DAS beautifully captured the image of deciduous forest trees, IMO.
