Chojubai rock planting. The rock is a piece of chalk from the local hills, with a hole drilled through it for the roots. I didn't actually notice the fossils in it until after putting it together. The whole thing sits in a Dan Barton pot.

Shohin sized procumbens. The entire right side will eventually be jinned, I'm growing the future jins a bit thicker and trying to build up some interesting textures before I kill it all off. Needs a clean up this autumn (in the next 2 months). 2 large branches in the back of the tree will be removed (I've wrapped some wired around them to pull them out of the way while the rest of the tree gets it's last bit of autumn sun.

Procumbens air layer from the tree I posted above. Will go into a bonsai pot in spring. The branch sticking out on the top right with the wire on it will eventually be jinned.

Not really sure the direction I want to take with it, but is my fav of my 4 Walmart discount boxwoods. Prob a typical oak shape would be good. Gumdrop-ish

Hornbeam trees around me, trees that I dug up, just don’t back bud ever. I may get one bud near the trunk. However, if there is any growth it’s almost always a growth from the base near the soil surface roots. I think I have a wild variety of Hornbeam that doesn’t react positively to digging and chopping. I even left a tree in the ground with no root change, just a chopping down in height, same reaction with no bud development. So, I gave up on Hornbeams and focused on American Elm trees.
