The Tree Thread

Tree Torture Theme

View attachment 32003

A BRT I bought from an auction. Too straight for my liking so I bent it. 2" at the base, 1-1/2" at bend area and done with make shift bending tools out of branch trimmings, wires and turnbuckles. LOL Bent about 20 degrees. This is probably the hardest wood I bent to date. :)

Love that bougie...then again I haven't seen any tree of yours that I didn't like yet. :)

Re: the pic of flower and fruits...those are not tree pics. ;)

Dario, that is some serious tree torture! Here is an air layer project of mine that fits the same theme. This japanese maple looked like it needed "pruning".

Great thread everyone!!

Ready for spring...buds moving!
I thread-grafted 6 seedlings through the base to improve the nebari, so it's planted a bit deeper this year.

Nice maple Brian. Since I know you like Hawthorns, here's mine in it's first real pot.IMG_1794.jpg

I messed up the bark during the transplant. Hopefully it won't take long to grow back. This is my biggest tree and will likely be compacted (a little).

This gets my vote as best thread since I have joined bnut. Here is My fukien tea. My very first tree and what started my addiction. It's a terrible mallsai my wife got me for a birthday. Had it about 8 years now and pretty much haven't done a thing to it other than keep it alive and the occasional trimming of branches. I'll keep it forever as a reminder of where it all started.

My vote too!! Here's my tall procumbens (about 33 inches). I am changing the foliage direction this year. It use to be more horizontal. Not the best angled pic though.

Nice shaggy bark! Its looking good.
Peter was looking at mine last year and was telling me that it really needs to bark up...except this kind doesn't. I like the exfoliating bark just as much.
