This is a little project I worked on this weekend that's supposed to represent the NC mountains. I styled the hemlock last fall and this weekend had the idea to use some azalea cuttings to represent rhodo and laurel. I hope some of them actually root.

Hornbeam in early stages, some heavy subtrunks had to be reduced on this material, i felt they were too powerful for the proportians of the trunk, the balance is a little better, can just about make out the new buds emerging from where the canopy will be built, everything is set up now

What is that? Is it a buckeye? I dug up something similar around the foundation of my Dads house. Do you know what this is? I guess mine doesn't have such serrated leaf edges.
