Hello Bnuts,

I am planning a repot of this RMJ this spring and I am interested in ideas and feedback on what you would repot this tree into or onto?

This is a photo immediately after styling in march 2021 - the tree has grown a tremendous amount since this point.

Last question. Do you have a pot or shape in mind already?

This one!!!

a second thought of mine would be a slab of sorts. One with clear direction from right to left. Maybe even one that is slight thicker and some “walls” on the right and flattens out to the left.
This is is along the lines of what I was thinking when I said oval. But you might be right. It'd have to be a LONG oval for it to balance out.

Would love to see a more recent pic. Hoping to find myself one this spring.

I'm thinking a shallow, long, unglazed oval, off-center so the wind swept branches extend over empty space of the pot.
It is a big wild at the moment. Need the growth and foliage strength for the spring repot.

No, I don't have anything in mind at this moment. I am open to ideas.

A round as you suggested could be wonderful, I also like the slab idea you shared.

This is a 3 leaf Sumac. Native shrub that puts out yellow flowers in spring and berries if it’s the correct gender. Produces small 3 lobed leaves with good autumn color. I’d like to pot it to something a bit nicer come spring after flowering. Here are the pots I have. Thoughts?

Lankier trees like this I often think look better in the shallow wide pots. I feel like it help balance the long and narrow up top.

But I think I say wide and shallow allot, so maybe I just like wide shallow pots? 🤔

That Sam Miller with the blue looks nice though, so I'm going with that this time.

Two other options
12 in

Or 14 inch

The pot the tree is in currently is 12 inches

Thought I’d resurrect this thread.

What do you all think of these two pots for this Sabina juniper?. Size wise I think they’d work. How about style? Pots too heavy for the tree? Does it want an oval or even a round? I’d love your thoughts on this @Brian Van Fleet

And second. I’m eyeing this pot as well, for my white birch. May not even be ready for a pot, but it does hurt to source sooner than later I suppose!

I like it for its depth and its color. Though @MACH5 i love the glazed rectangle yours is in. What do you think?

@Hartinez
Nice pots both, but I wouldn’t pick either for the juniper. Top pot is too formal, bottom pot is too blocky. A round drum pot in red clay maybe?

But I dig the Yamafusa for the birch.
Thanks Brian. Just bid on the yamafusa. 🤞🏻

On the hunt for a better pot for the juniper.

I think an oval shaped, or soft rectangle with a soft rim, or a mokko shape.FB_IMG_1695866390354.jpgScreenshot_20230927-210242.pngScreenshot_20230927-210426.pngScreenshot_20230927-210735.png
Last one color is good for a particular feeling, I do think shape would work

Here is another I would consider
