The kids are feeding the wild rabbits, attracting them to my subdivision. They are sneaking into my yard and nibble on the young buds.

I have a neighbor that puts tons of birdseed out and the squirrels are always eating it. With my trees all up on benches and a fenced in yard the rabbits aren't an issue but now it's time to put rat traps out to train the squirrels to stay off my benches again.

we had a rabbit problem in my neighborhood years ago, then some feral cats moved in, now I don’t see any more rabbits …

Maybe get a cat?

Get your trees up on benches at least 24” off the ground. You will have infinitely fewer issues with rodents of every kind. Or get a terrier. I have both.

Also there is a healthy local population of coyotes eagles and hawks. Not many rabbits around these days.

My wife feed the deers with our store bought fruits infant if the house all the time....Now they wait for her everyday lol.

We had a increase in the local population in the neighborhood last year.
My 95 pound great dane, lab, and various other mixed pooch reduced that by at least 2.
He caught and ate two young ones last year that I know of. Swallowed / gulped them down whole so I didnt get them away from him...if I could have even caught him to do it.
Every once in a while him and the lab/kelpie corner something under the shed or around the compost bin and its a hunt for days after that.

Rabbits don't like ghost peppers, especially when you grind them down fresh, leave them for an hour and then put them in high proof alcohol. Strain, spray over your plants during the night - but stay out of the wind.
In bad cases, they will eat out their own intestines. Rabbits, like rodents, cannot throw up and if they are not fat, they can reach their own stomach.

The effects, although quite extreme, are threefold: Rabbits stop eating your plants, the population will decrease, and the neighborhood kids will learn that feeding wild animals should be done with care. It is environmentally friendly, too.
One can argue whether it's animal abuse if you put something in your back yard and an animal decides to eat it. But you already went past that point by putting out bonsai trees for them to eat. Nature can be cruel.

Intentionally poisoning wildlife if a criminal offense.
